Rambler Redo

Rambler Redo

Rambler Remodel | Edina, Minnesota

Sentimental Attachment

This Edina rambler is the home of two empty nesters who wanted an updated space to reflect their new stage of life. After searching for a new home to buy, they realized that they loved their corner lot in Edina and wanted to stay – and to renovate.

When they contacted us, the idea of tearing down the home and building new was discussed. However, the homeowners quickly determined that certain elements of their existing home, such as the children’s bedrooms and the squeaky floor in the hallway, were too sentimental to demolish. We designed a remodel which preserved these sentimental elements while creating a new, expanded kitchen, sun-filled living spaces, and completely updating the exterior. In order to allow the clients to age in place, the home was kept as a rambler. Now, not only do the clients have a home which holds the memories of their family’s past, but they also have a space which celebrates their new stage of life.
