Harry's Bar Featured in Star Tribune

Thank you to the Star Tribune for featuring Harry’s Bar on the front page of the Home & Garden section! Thank you, as well, to our client for graciously sharing his backyard hangout with readers.

Harry’s Bar is a garage that can do both: store cars and host late afternoon soirees. We designed Harry’s Bar to match the existing historic home. As described in the article, “matching the [existing home’s] Roman bricks proved to be the biggest challenge.” We selected bricks which matched the color of the home, but were too tall. Welch Forsman, the talented contractor, cut each brick in half to the correct height.

As Chris described in the interview, “We literally drew every brick to see how they would line up before we started. Traditionally when they would put on the brick, they would put it on first because the brick was the structure. These days the brick is a veneer, so we built the whole thing by a wood frame structure and then put the brick on last.”

Our client’s friend and Harry’s Bar regular remarked, “It’s like ‘Cheers,’ but way better.”
